EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
Landscape Consultant - Wilmette, Illinois Design Studio
Chalet's Design Studio in Wilmette has an opportunity for a Landscape Consultant to join our team. This newly created position will enhance our customer's experience by presenting creative solutions for their landscape and outdoor living spaces. These solutions will transcend all departments of our company and provide our customers with a seamless experience that maximizes our opportunities to serve them.
Responsibilities include:
- In Studio Consultations - Meet with customers in the Design Studio who were referred by retail store staff. Actively listen to and assess customers' needs. Review photographs, prior designs, or other items the customer may have brought to demonstrate their needs/issues.
- Conducting Customer Site Visits and Analysis - Schedule and visit customer property, if necessary, to more fully understand needs. This could include taking measurements, photographs, soil samples, conducting site analysis, reviewing construction documents, etc.
- Generating Creative Solutions - Serve as the "idea generator" for the do-it-yourself customer. Create smaller-scale plans, sell retail product, supervise plant installations, and coordinate services.
- Managing Leads - Work to provide the highest level of customer service to all potential customers.
- Referring Leads - Refer customers to appropriate department(s) for sale of product and/or services and facilitate seamless transitions.
- Looping Leads - Actively survey and follow-up with customers who were referred to other departments but did not result in a sale. Work to re-establish relationships and re-define customer needs, in order to provide them with the most appropriate products and services.
- Generating Leads - Explore opportunities to serve a broader customer base.
- Facilitating a Seamless and Thorough Customer Experience as Chalet's Products & Services Champion - Educate customer on full range of Chalet products and services. Serve as the central knowledge source of our products and services by actively participating with all departments, company-wide.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in needs assessment, landscape design and horticulture. Additional experience in some of the following areas as well: plant, garden art and hardscape selection; estimating; sales; lead generation; CRM; and/or site supervision & installation management.
- A degree in Landscape Architecture/Design or Horticulture, or equivalent experience.
- A creative problem-solver with a can-do attitude who has proven to partner their technical knowledge with their excellent communication skills to actively listen to customers and create solutions that meet customers' needs and exceed their expectations.
- An outgoing, proactive, and friendly personality with an approach that will establish the foundation for long term customer relationships and foster interdepartmental collaboration.
- "Fast-on-your-feet" and decisive, with the ability to juggle and manage multiple projects, multiple customers, and changing priorities.
- Ability to conduct a site survey, review construction documents & plat of surveys, and create hand drawn plans with a strong knowledge of the practicality of the outdoor built environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- ICN Pro or other green industry designations is a plus, as is experience with Counterpoint or other
point of sales systems.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to lift 40+ pounds and physically explore a customer's property.
This is a full-time, year round position that will work 40+ hours per week. Schedule includes working both Saturday and Sunday and 3 days during the week.
